October 16 is World Food Day. While I was doing research for a little blurb I was writing for work, I can across this haunting fact:
With an estimated increase of 105 million hungry people in 2009, there are now 1.02 billion malnourished people in the world, meaning that almost one sixth of all humanity is suffering from hunger. – FAO
Can you even imagine? I mean, it’s not like it’s a surprise. We all know that there are people, especially children, all over the world who don’t have food, and clothes, and water, and tons of other things that we take for granted. What that’s where it ends. We just “know”.
I intend to do something more.
On Tuesday, October 27, 2009, @alwillis and I will be co-hosting “Trick or Tweet for UNICEF”, a gathering in Dorchester, MA at Tavolo (at Ashmont Station) to raise money for UNICEF. We’d love to have you. You can RSVP at http://trickortweet.eventbrite.com. Giving isn’t mandatory, and every little bit helps.
And, if you can’t make it to the D.O.T but you still want to give, you can donate online at trickortweet
Thanks in advance!
