Please vote for our SXSW panel: Self-Hate Isn’t Sexy – Gender, Race & Tech

Could you really say no to a face that adorable?

I’m so torn between really wanting to pimp my SXSW panel and not wanting to be a #socialmediadouchebag…

I am not normally a self-promoter, but, honestly, I want to go to SXSW. And I really want to continue the discussion about gender, race and equality as they relate to the World 2.0 aka the techsphere. Leslie Poston (@geechie_girl) has proposed a great SXSW panel: “Self Hate Isn’t Sexy: Gender, Race & Tech” and invited me to join her and other #socialmediarockstars. Here’s her summary:

Leslie Poston (Uptown Uncorked, Film POP!, Twitter for Dummies Co-Author) is joined by R. Chase (Social Butterfly Experiment) and other panelists TBA to discuss how gender and race opportunities are two recurring themes in technology. Are we part of the problem, or part of the solution? This panel is about moving beyond the usual “we’re oppressed” quagmire discussion and into real, workable solutions, starting with ourselves as individuals to effect change in tech and social media.

Nice. right? I am SO pumped about this! After the whole PodCamp discussion, I am so fired up about these issues and know that this is going to be a great, productive discussion.

But, of course, we need your help to get there. Please sign up for a free account and vote here: http://panelpicker.sxsw.com/ideas/view/5003?return=/ideas/index/interactive/q:sexy

That’s all it takes. Thank you so much in advance ❤

  1. I am so excited. Some other good people have signed on to join us on the panel should we get the vote out, as well. I can’t wait to reveal who, and I’m with you – how much to promote and how much to trust the network will rally behind us … hmmm
